This winter I thought it would be fun to draw reindeer. In my research looking for suitable photographs I discovered the legend that Santa’s reindeer are female. The reasoning behind it is that both female and male reindeer grow antlers, but the males usually shed theirs by mid-December. It’s not impossible for a male to have antlers at Christmas-time, it’s just less likely. Since the females shed their antlers in the spring, it’s more likely that the reindeer pulling the sleigh are female.

Anyway, I chose these three images for my reindeer collage, and I’m quite pleased with how it turned out whether they are males or females!
